Pape Matar Sarr is one of the most beloved players at Tottenham Hotspur among the club's supporters, and it's easy to see why.
The Senegalese midfielder works tirelessly in midfield, and his effort levels have never dipped below 100% in any game he has played for Spurs since making his debut for the North London side in January 2023.
His performances for the club have certainly warranted a chant, and the Tottenham faithful haven't disappointed. For more information on the Pape matar Sarr chant, including the lyrics and tune, we have you covered below.

Pape Matar Sarr chant lyrics and tune
The Pape Matar Sarr chant is sung to the lyrics of ‘Starman' by David Bowie. The lyrics to the chant are as follows:
There's a Sarr man,
Who's magic on the ball,
He plays for Tottenham Hotspur,
And he comes from Senegal

The Pape Matar Sarr chant was created fairly soon after his debut for Tottenham, and given how well his name fits into the Starman lyrics, it's a good job that he did prove to be as good as he first looked for Tottenham.
The player himself appears to be well aware and appreciative of the chant, too. There is a video (which you can watch below) of him taking in fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, serenading him at the end of the 2024/25 season.
This isn't the first time that Starman has been used for a football chant, however. The first club (as far as I'm aware) to use the chant was Manchester United back in 2013. The Red Army used the tune for one of their Adnan Januzaj chants.

FGG says: A belter
Although Tottenham fans aren't the first (and won't be the last) to use Starman for a football chant, it's still fresh enough to be classed as an excellent chant. The link between Sarr and Star is so obvious yet so brilliant that it might even be the best iteration of the chant.
