Eyebrows were raised in the summer of 2025 when Newcastle decided to spend £55 million on Yoane Wissa from Brentford.
While the Congolese striker has enjoyed plenty of good form in the Premier League, he was 29 years old when he made the move to St James' Park and only had one year left on his deal at the Gtech Community Stadium.
To compound matters, the forward joined the club with an injury that prevented him from making any appearances for the Magpies until December.
However, all that is now in the past, and the player has officially made his debut. Remarkably, Newcastle fans already have a chant for him, too. Below, we go through everything we know about the chant so far.
Yoane Wissa chant, lyrics and tune
The full lyrics of the Yoane Wissa chant are not yet available, as the song has only been sung briefly at St James' Park. What we do know is that the tune of the chant is ‘the animals went in two by two', which was once famously used by Liverpool fans for their Fernando Torres chant. At present, the only lyrics we know are as follows:
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, Wissa, Wissa
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, Wissa, Wissa
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na,
Yoane Wissa, Newcastle's number nine
Yoane Wissa chant background
As mentioned, this chant was only sung by a small section of Newcastle supporters at St James' Park shortly after the player came off the bench to make his debut for the club on Saturday, 6 December 2025.
There are no guarantees that this will become the player's designated chant, either. Several suggested chants have been thrown out there, including Brentford's old song for the player – ‘Wissa's on Fire', which is sung to the tune of Freed from Desire by Gala.

There is currently no video footage of Newcastle fans singing their new Yoane Wissa chant. Once there is, we will update this page.
FGG says: The bones of a good chant are there
The Liverpool chant for Fernando Torres was one of the best and most recognisable football chants in English football back during the late 2000s, so if Newcastle can create something half as good for Yoane Wissa, then they could be onto something. We will await the full lyrics with breath.
