Jacob Murphy has gone under the radar at Newcastle United for many years now, and although he doesn't get much praise from those outside of the club, the St James' Park faithful are more than appreciative of the winger.
Murphy is the type of player that every manager loves to have. He works hard, isn't shy about tracking back and helping in defence, and is reliable in forward positions.
The former Norwich man has been at the club since 2017 and has made over 200 appearances for the Magpies, so it's no surprise that he has his own Newcastle United chant.

Jacob Murphy chant background
Despite joining the club in 2017, it wasn't until the 2024/25 season that Newcastle fans created this chant for Jacob Murphy. The Toon Army even needed a nudge from the player himself, with Murphy outright asking for one during the campaign.
After seeing a video of the fans singing the chant, Murphy told reporters:
“It was lovely. I saw it on TikTok; they originally got it going in a bar. It was nice that people started singing it, it means a lot.
“I’m super proud of the journey; it's not been easy, but it’s pure grit and determination. I hope youngsters can take my story as inspiration one day – never give up, keep persevering, and good things happen to good people.”

FGG says: A chant that is worthy of the terraces
At present, this football chant is one that has been confined to pubs and bars near St James' Park. However, it is legitimately a good chant and most importantly, an original one, too. The player deserves to hear this being belted out at St James' Park, so come on, Newcastle fans, make it happen.
