Jean-Philippe Mateta may have taken a little bit of time to get up and running for Crystal Palace, but over the past couple of seasons, the Frenchman has been electric in front of goal for the Eagles.
As such, the Crystal Palace supporters have created a football chant for the forward, which is often heard in the Holmesdale Road Stand at Selhurst Park and in Crystal Palace away ends.

Jean-Phillippe Mateta chant background
The Jean-Phillippe Mateta chant first began to surface towards the end of the 2022/23 season, when Mateta seemingly came to life out of nowhere in a Crystal Palace shirt.
After struggling for the majority of the previous year, Mateta ended the season with a flurry of goals, which prompted the Palace fans to create this chant for him.
Given his name, there were some fans who felt that the natural tune for a Mateta chant would be ‘Hakuna Matata' from The Lion King, but the Palace fans ultimately landed on Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom, which, to be fair, probably works better for a football chant.

FGG says: There's still time for Hakuna Mateta
Taking absolutely nothing away from this chant, because it is both unique and catchy, but it does feel like an opportunity is being missed with respect to Mateta's name and Hakuna Matata. Coming up with football-related lyrics to fit into the Lion King hit is someone else's job, though.
