Caicedo overrated? Liverpool fans stunned as Chelsea make Lavia transfer too

Moises Caicedo finally transferred away from Brighton, with Chelsea his final destination, but it wasn't without drama.

It was a transfer saga that saw Chelsea initially bid for the Brighton midfielder, only for Liverpool to attempt to hijack the move.

It seemed as though their Β£100 million bid was going to be enough, and many Liverpool fans were ready to welcome him to Anfield.

But their greetings were premature, as the player rejected their approach, opting to move to Stamford Bridge instead.

Liverpool left embarrassed after Caicedo transfer

Many rival fans have acknowledged the embarrassment Liverpool fans must be feeling right now after it seemed as though he would sign for their club, with many rival fans taking their chance to make fun of the Reds.

Twitter has exploded over the last few days, following the story of ‘Will he, won't he' with both sets of fans eagerly awaiting the announcement of the signing.

Unfortunately for Liverpool, they missed out, but some of their fans didn't want Caicedo anyway, it seems, with some tweeting stats showing how over-rated the midfielder is compared to others.

For Chelsa fans, however, they can now get excited at the prospect of seeing one of the best young defensive midfielders in the Premier League play for them, with the Ecuadorian given the number 25 shirt, the same one worn by Chelsea legend, Gianfranco Zola.

The acquisition has been a welcome one for the Blues fans, who seem to enjoy the fact he chose the London club over the Merseyside club.

Liverpool miss out on Lavia as well

But that is not even the end of the saga, with Liverpool then turning their attention back to their original target, Lavia, of Southampton.

However, Chelsea were seemingly out for revenge and approached Lavia too, with a deal expected to be concluded in the next day or two after the Blues agreed to terms with the Saints.

Chelsea fans have already started welcoming the youngster to their club, before it has even been announced.

But are the Blues fans acting prematurely? Who will Liverpool turn to next? Loads of questions to be answered over the next couple of days, it seems.
