Ethan Ampadu will be etched into Leeds history forever, as nothing will ever change the fact that he was the club captain when the Whites secured promotion back to the Premier League as Championship champions in 2025.
His performances for the club in the second tier were exemplary, and he has performed well in the Premier League so far, too. There is a feeling that even if Leeds get relegated this season, Ampadu will remain in the top flight.
The Leeds faithful gave Ampadu his very own Leeds chant shortly after he signed for the club, and it is one that is still sung around Elland Road today.
For all the key information on the Ampadu chant, including the lyrics and tune, we have you covered below.
Ethan Ampadu chant, lyrics and tune
The Ethan Ampadu chant is sung to the tune of ‘Agadoo' by Black Lace. The lyrics are as follows:
Ampadu, du, du
Plays in yellow, white and blue,
Ampadu, du, du
He hates scum like me and you,
To the left, to the right,
He will break your legs in two,
Ampadu, du, du,
Plays in yellow, white and blue
Ethan Ampadu chant background
The Ethan Ampadu chant is not only sung to a fantastic tune, but the lyrics also encapsulate a lot about the player himself and the club he plays for.
The line about Ampadu hating ‘scum' is a direct reference to Manchester United. Leeds have a long-held hatred for the Red Devils to the point where their fans refuse to call them by their real name. Instead, they are simply referred to as ‘scum'.
The chant also makes reference to Ampadu's play style. The Welshman has played in both defence and midfield for the club, but one thing has remained constant – his appetite for a tasty challenge.

FGG says: Another brilliant Leeds chant
Given the similarity between the player's surname and the hit song ‘Agadoo', it is almost criminal that it has taken this long for Ampadu to get a football chant to this tune, but kudos to Leeds fans for finally getting it sorted. This chant, in addition to the Brenden Aaronson chant, have contributed to Leeds fans having one of the best modern songbooks in the country.
