Farnham Town have moved closer to their National League ambitions after Waverley Borough Council approved a new lease for the Memorial Ground.
The decision unlocks plans to expand the ground, improve matchday facilities and create a stadium capable of supporting the club's continued rise.
Farnham Town unveil latest Memorial Ground expansion plans
The new lease gives Farnham Town additional land to the west of the Memorial Ground, opening the door to a series of upgrades designed to meet National League ground-grading requirements.
Plans include new covered and seated stands, additional turnstiles, a toilet block and refreshment and catering facilities. Opening up the western side should also ease congestion around the existing amenities on the Mead Lane side of the ground.
Chairman Harry Hugo said the decision would allow the club to accelerate its expansion plans, describing Farnham Town as an increasingly important community and commercial asset for the town.
The club is also exploring how to make the ground a four-sided venue, having repositioned the pitch to create more space behind the southern goal.
While the long-term design remains under consideration, Farnham believe it could become possible to accommodate supporters behind that goal towards the end of the current season.
The developments form part of a wider ambition to support progress in both the men's and women's teams, with Hugo stressing the importance of ensuring there are no off-field barriers to their success.
FGG says: Farnham's Memorial Ground plans match their growing ambitions
This is an important step for Farnham Town, whose ambitions on the pitch need to be matched by facilities capable of supporting further promotion.
The additional land gives the club a clearer route towards National League ground-grading standards, while the proposed stands and improved facilities could make a noticeable difference to the matchday experience.
Just as importantly, the plans appear to focus on sustainable growth rather than capacity alone.
If Farnham can deliver the improvements while maintaining their community identity, the Memorial Ground could become a strong foundation for the club's next chapter.
