Anfield's expansion and attendance records
Although Anfield opened in 1884, Liverpool did not move in until 1892.
Their first match at the stadium took place on 1st September that year, with Liverpool beating Rotherham Town 7-1 in front of approximately 200 spectators.
The stadium's capacity stood at 45,276 in the early 2010s before a series of major redevelopment projects transformed the ground.
The Main Stand expansion in 2016 added approximately 8,500 seats, taking capacity to around 54,000.
The subsequent Anfield Road Stand project added approximately 7,000 more seats, including 5,200 general admission places and 1,800 hospitality seats.
The Anfield Road Stand redevelopment cost approximately £100m, with around £20m in additional insured costs following the collapse of contractor Buckingham Group.
Across the two major expansion projects, the Reds have invested more than £190m over the past decade.
