Three supporters were arrested due to acts of disorder during the Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Rangers on May 11, 2024. Celtic won the match 2-1 and closed in on their 54th Scottish league title.
Police Scotland make three arrests during Old Firm
The police arrested fans aged 29, 44 and 47. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Three people, aged 29, 44 and 47 have been arrested during the fixture at Parkhead, Glasgow on Saturday, May 11 connection with acts of disorder.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
Celtic move a step closer to the title
Celtic beat their rivals Rangers 2-1, thanks to goals from Matt O’Riley and an own goal from John Lundstram. The Rangers midfielder was also sent off shortly before half-time as Celtic moved six points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
After the game, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers spoke to BBC Scotland. He said: “To beat Rangers for the third time this season, I tip my hat to the players for their mentality and their ability to get the job done,” he told BBC Scotland.
“We're not over the line yet, but we're in a great place. It hasn't been a perfect season for us.
“The players have kept believing and progressing. When we've had those challenging moments, we stayed very unified and together.
“It's always the best team that wins after 38 games. We're not there yet, but the finish line is in touching distance.”
