The brand-new 2024/25 Champions League format has proven to be somewhat of a rollercoaster for Celtic and their fans so far this season.
An opening-day dismantling of Slavia Bratislava at Celtic Park saw the Hoops secure a memorable 5-1 victory. However, just two weeks later, Brendan Rodgers' players were on the wrong end of a thumping by the same margin at the hands of Borussia Dortmund.
The venue that night was Signal Iduna Park and there is another European away night on the horizon for Celtic supporters. This time, they will be playing against Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium. Read on for a full guide to the Atalanta away section.

Where is the Atalanta away section?
Like many Italian grounds, the Gewiss Stadium features a more traditional design with a four-stand layout rather than a more modern bowl-like aesthetic. Once at the ground, you will find that Atalanta's away section is located in the Southwestern corner of the Curva Sud Morosini—also known as the West Stand.
It is a section of the ground with a capacity of around 1,300—more than enough for away fans to make plenty of noise and make their presence known at the venue.
What is the Atalanta away section like?
The Curva Sud at the Gewiss Stadium is nearing completion. The base for the lower section of seating has now been added to the old away section. Just the top half, seats and roof and it will be ready.

First and foremost, the Gewiss Stadium is a fantastic ground with an excellent atmosphere – Italian fans are well-known for being extremely passionate and the Atalanta supporters are widely regarded as one of the best.
Therefore, you should expect an extremely buoyant atmosphere upon your arrival and throughout the game.
In recent seasons, the Atalanta away section has been undergoing major renovations, which, as well as reducing its capacity to 750, also had a massively negative impact on travelling supporters' matchday experience. But, that work is now complete and the Curva Sud Morosini is now back to its brilliant best.
A strict identification process at Atalanta
Regarding Atalanta – Italian authorities have informed us via the FSA that they are very strict on names matching tickets & have rejected hundreds of fans last season when tickets and ID didn’t match.

Italy as a country have strict ticket policies in general, but Atalanta are perhaps more strict than most in this regard. The vast majority of Celtic supporters will be asked to provide passport numbers and names when purchasing their tickets, and these will then be cross-referenced with the supporter who collects said ticket.
If these two pieces of information do not match, the fan in question will not be permitted entry into the Gewiss Stadium under any circumstances.
While this has been put in place to crack down on violence at football games, it has had some downsides for match-going fans – mainly increasing the difficulty of securing these tickets as transferring between friends and family is virtually impossible.
Bear this in mind when hunting for any last-minute tickets to the match.
Celtic ticket allocation for Atalanta away
Hoops fans had the privilege of receiving a ticket allocation of 3,800 for their away trip to Signal Iduna Park a couple of weeks ago, and while they will have fewer tickets against Atalanta, the club have still been granted a total of 1,300 tickets for the clash – which is plenty.
Celtic supporters are famous for travelling well so in addition to an expected sellout of those tickets, thousands more are expected to be in the streets of Bergamo at bars and pubs on matchday.
