Away fans’ guide to Deventer: Key information for Aston Villa fans

Aston Villa's Europa League campaign couldn't have started any better. The Villains have picked up maximum points from their opening two matches in the competition, and they have effectively used it to return to form after a slow start domestically.

Next up for Unai Emery's side is a trip to the Netherlands to take on Go Ahead Eagles in Deventer. It will be the second trip to the Netherlands in as many months for several Aston Villa fans, after the Villains faced Feyenoord in matchday two.

If you are one of these fans making the trip to Deventer for the match, then our guide below has all the key information that you need to know.

How many Aston Villa fans are going to Deventer?

The match between Go Ahead Eagles and Aston Villa will take place at De Adelaarshorst, one of the smallest stadiums in the competition, with a capacity of just 10,400.

Aston Villa fans were, therefore, bracing themselves for a small allocation, and they haven't been left disappointed as they have only been given 489 tickets for the match.

All of these tickets have already been sold, but there is a possibility that some Villa fans could travel over to the Netherlands without tickets, as they are unlikely to ever have a reason to visit Deventer again.

Where will Aston Villa fans sit at De Adelaarshorst?

The away section at De Adelaarshorst is located behind one of the goals in the Leo Halle Tribune. Specifically, Aston Villa fans will enter through block 18, which is located as far right as you can go in the stand.

As the stadium is only a single tier all the way round, Aston Villa fans will at least be close to the action even if they aren't particularly close to the goal at their end of the pitch. The stand is shared with home supporters, so fans should expect a little bit of back and forth over the top of the segregation.

How to get to De Adelaarshorst: Guide for Aston Villa fans in Deventer

De Adelaarshorst is located to the east of the city centre in Deventer, and due to the small size of the area, it is within walking distance from the most central point of the city, where a lot of Villa fans will no doubt find themselves.

Fans staying outside of Deventer will need to get to the train to the main Deventer Railway Station. From here, the stadium is a 15-minute walk away.

For fans who don't want to walk from the city centre or train station, there are bus services which can take you directly outside De Adelaarshorst. Bus route 5 stops outside the train station and takes you to Veeweg, which is the closest stop to the stadium.
