Away fans’ guide to Krakow: Key information for Crystal Palace fans

After coming through their quarter-final tie with Fiorentina, Crystal Palace will take on Shakhtar Donetsk for a place in the Europa Conference League final.

Due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the first leg of the tie on Thursday, 30 April, will take place in Shakhtar's temporary home, the Henryk Reyman Municipal Stadium in Krakow.

A European semi-final in Krakow is the type of trip that many Palace supporters would have been dreaming about when they qualified for the tournament last season, and now here it is.

If you are a Palace fan heading to Krakow for the match, here is everything you need to know to ensure the trip goes smoothly.

How many Crystal Palace fans are going to Krakow?

Crystal Palace have not yet been informed of how many tickets they will receive for the match against Shakhtar Donetsk at the Henryk Reyman Municipal Stadium. However, UEFA rules stipulate that a minimum of 5% of the stadium's capacity must be given, which means Palace can expect an allocation of at least 1,650.

It is anticipated that far more Crystal Palace fans will head over to Krakow without tickets, too, just as they did in the previous round for Frioentina away. Not only is the match huge for the club, but Krakow is also widely considered one of the best drinking cities in Europe.

Where will Crystal Palace fans sit at the Henryk Reyman Municipal Stadium?

Crystal Palace fans will be placed in one of the four corners at the Henryk Reyman Municipal Stadium. The stadium only has a capacity of 33,000 and spans two tiers in most areas, including the away end. The corner wedge where away fans are located spans both tiers.

The view from here is excellent, regardless of which tier you are in, while the segregation is expected to be heavy on both sides.

Where to eat & drink for Crystal Palace fans in Krakow

One of the biggest reasons why a lot of Crystal Palace fans are so excited about the trip to Krakow is the pubs. The average cost of a pint in the city is the equivalent of £2.20, meaning fans will be able to get four for the price they would typically pay for one in London. Some of the best Krakow bars are as follows:

  • House of Beer – Sw. Tomasza 35, 31-027 Krakow, Poland
  • Eszeweria – Jozefa 9, 31-056 Krakow, Poland
  • Mr Black – Szewska 21, 31-009 Krakow, Poland

How to get to the Henryk Reyman Municipal Stadium: Guide for Crystal Palace fans in Krakow

The Henryk Reyman Municipal Stadium is nicely located in Krakow, just a 20-minute walk away from the city centre. As such, the majority of Crystal Palace fans are expected to walk to the stadium on matchday.

Alternatively, fans can take advantage of the local tram system by getting on either Trams 15 or 18 from the centre to Reymana, which is located right outside the ground. Buses 103, 139, 144, 159, 173 and 194 also take fans from the city centre to the stadium.
