Barcelona's revamped Camp Nou continues to emerge as the leading candidate to host the 2029 Champions League final.
A significant improvement in the club's relationship with UEFA could now help the 105,000-capacity stadium secure European football's biggest club fixture.

UEFA's Executive Committee is due to decide on September 15th which stadiums will host the 2028 and 2029 Champions League finals, with the new Spotify Camp Nou currently considered the clear favourite for the latter.
By 2029, Barcelona's iconic home is expected to be fully renovated and have a capacity of around 105,000, giving it a strong case against England's Wembley Stadium.
The improving relationship between Barcelona and UEFA, including between president Joan Laporta and UEFA chief Aleksander Ceferin, has also reopened the possibility of Camp Nou hosting major European finals.

For 2028, Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena is currently the only candidate and would host the Champions League final for the third time.
Wembley has also staged the final three times, most recently in 2024, and will host the Euro 2028 semi-finals and final. That could work in Barcelona's favour when UEFA makes its decision.
Camp Nou has previously hosted two European Cup finals, in 1989 and 1999, and could now welcome the Champions League final back to Barcelona 30 years after its last appearance.

The revamped Camp Nou would be an obvious choice for one of European football's biggest occasions, particularly once the £1bn-plus redevelopment is complete.
A 105,000 capacity would make it one of the continent's most impressive football venues, while UEFA's improved relationship with Barcelona removes a significant obstacle.
After 30 years without hosting the final, bringing the Champions League showpiece back to Camp Nou in 2029 would feel like a fitting way to showcase its transformation.
