Brentford are continuing efforts to establish the Gtech Community Stadium as a multi-event venue after securing another major sporting event for later this year.

The Premier League ground will host the finals of the inaugural Ultimate Sevens rugby union competition in September, adding to a growing list of non-Brentford events staged in west London.

Rugby is coming to the Gtech Community Stadium later in 2026

The Gtech Community Stadium will host the final leg of the inaugural Ultimate Sevens series on Thursday September 24th.

The new short-format rugby union competition will visit Madrid, Cardiff and Biarritz across three successive weeks before its champions are crowned at Brentford's home.

Ultimate Sevens has already announced the involvement of established names from the format, including Maddi Levi, Manu Moreno, Henry Hutchison and Abbie Brown, with organisers also hoping to attract players from the traditional 15-a-side game.

Managing director Barney Pascall said the competition wants to bring world-class athletes into major venues while making the shorter format accessible to existing rugby supporters, families and younger sports fans.

The agreement is the latest example of Brentford expanding the use of the Gtech Community Stadium beyond its men's first-team fixtures.

The venue hosted the World Sevens Football finals in May, while Brentford have applied for permission to stage up to six concerts from next summer.

The club have also reportedly held talks with Shakhtar Donetsk over the possibility of hosting Champions League fixtures in west London.

FGG says: Brentford are following Hill Dickinson Stadium example

Everton have already demonstrated at Hill Dickinson Stadium how rugby and other major events can help a football ground expand its profile and generate valuable additional revenue away from regular matchdays.

Brentford are clearly looking to maximise the potential of the Gtech Stadium in a similar way.

Its London location gives the club a strong platform to attract different sports and entertainment events, and deals such as Ultimate Sevens can only help strengthen the stadium's reputation as a versatile year-round venue.
