Como unveil new stadium policy for 2026/27 season that could see fans banned ‘without valid reason’

Como 1907 have introduced a controversial new season ticket policy ahead of the 2026/27 campaign that could see supporters lose their seats if they fail to attend enough matches.

The move comes as demand for tickets continues to soar at the club's compact Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.

The Serie A side have announced a strict new season ticket policy that could see supporters lose both their current season ticket and renewal rights if they miss more than three home matches without notifying the club or providing a valid reason.

The club say the measures have been introduced to ensure seats at the 12,000-capacity Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia are occupied by genuine Como supporters as demand continues to exceed supply.

With the club preparing for a historic campaign featuring Serie A, the Coppa Italia and their first-ever UEFA Champions League season, Como say they want to maximise attendance while preserving the atmosphere inside the stadium.

In a statement, the club explained: “We want all available seats to be occupied by Como fans.”

Supporters unable to attend can avoid sanctions by informing the club in advance, while the only stated exception allows season tickets to be transferred to a close family member in justified circumstances.

Club president Mirwan Suwarso defended the policy, arguing that too many opposition supporters had previously secured seats in home sections for high-profile matches against clubs such as Inter Milan and AC Milan.

Alongside the attendance policy, Como have also confirmed that away supporters wearing opposition shirts, scarves or other club colours will not be permitted into home sections of the stadium, with the club reserving the right to remove anyone who breaches the rules during a match.

Como's desire to protect the home atmosphere is understandable, particularly with such limited capacity and unprecedented demand for tickets.

However, threatening supporters with the loss of a season ticket after just three missed matches feels particularly severe and is likely to divide opinion.

It will be interesting to see whether other clubs consider similar policies, but for many supporters, this approach may be viewed as an overly harsh way of rewarding loyalty rather than encouraging it.
