Hellas Verona have taken another step towards securing a new stadium after presenting their redevelopment proposals to local authorities.
The Serie B club are hoping the project will strengthen Verona’s ambitions of hosting matches at Euro 2032, with a key decision-making phase now underway.
New Verona stadium now under review by local government
The Municipality of Verona has opened its preliminary Services Conference to examine Hellas Verona’s proposals for a new stadium and wider regeneration project.
The meeting, convened by mayor Damiano Tommasi, brought together club executive president Italo Zanzi, senior officials and representatives from international design and consultancy firms, including Gensler, Arup and KPMG.
The plans extend beyond a replacement stadium, incorporating a temporary venue at Via Sogare to accommodate matches during construction, improvements to the Olimpia training pitches and the redevelopment of facilities surrounding the existing ground.
The club also wants to create a modern, multi-purpose stadium capable of hosting concerts, corporate functions and other major events throughout the year.
Tommasi confirmed that the preliminary review is expected to conclude in early December, after which Verona must submit its final proposal before the project can secure public-interest recognition and proceed towards a tender process.
The redevelopment could also support Verona’s Euro 2032 ambitions. The city is among 13 Italian locations on the national football federation’s longlist, with just five venues ultimately set to stage matches in Italy.
However, confirmation of Verona’s continued candidacy would not guarantee selection for the tournament.
FGG says: New stadium could strengthen Verona's Euro 2032 dream
The latest meeting represents encouraging progress for Hellas Verona, particularly with the club assembling an experienced team to support its ambitious plans.
The proposed temporary stadium and wider regeneration work also demonstrate that the project extends beyond simply replacing the existing ground.
However, there are still significant administrative hurdles to overcome, and Euro 2032 selection remains far from guaranteed.
The coming months will be crucial in determining whether Verona can turn its stadium ambitions into an approved development.
