Fans react to Marcus Rashford wonderstrike in Manchester derby

Football fans have reacted on social media to Marcus Rashford’s eighth minute screamer for Manchester United against city rivals Manchester City.

Rashford has been widely criticised by pundits and supporters for his performances this season. However, his goal against City will help to silence the critics.

“Months of frustration” – Rashford belter shocks the Etihad

United came into the game as the underdogs, sitting 15 points behind Pep Guardiola’s side.

Rashford’s early strike which crashed in off the bar sparked wild reactions from fans and celebrities on social media.

British rapper, Headie One, said on X(formerly Twitter): “That shot from Rashford was months of frustration.”

@TheShowtimeReds applauded the overall move that led to the goal. He said: “The pass by Onana. The run and hold up play by Bruno. The finish by Rashford. Everything was inch perfect.

@footballontnt highlighted Rashford’s impressive record against the Premier League’s ‘Big Six teams’, who he has now scored 30 goals against.

Neville backs Rashford

Gary Neville, who was on commentary for Sky Sports, was ecstatic as United went 1-0 ahead in the tightly contested derby.

After the goal was scored, Neville said on commentary: “He said in the week, ‘If you back me good, if you doubt me better’ but that's the best way to answer everybody. Smash one in the net from 25 yards, absolutely incredible.”
