Champions League draw: English fans react

Man City fans

Man City fans aren't overly enthused by the prospect of facing Real Madrid in the quarter-finals. It is the third consecutive season that the two clubs have faced off in the knockout stages of the Champions League with Real Madrid winning in 2021/22 and Man City winning in 2022/23.

One City fan took to X to say: “Not going to lie, I'm so tired of this match, it just causes unnecessary stress.” Another fan said, “When I was growing up, teams used to be scared to play against Real Madrid in the UCL, Now Real Madrid fans are scared of playing Man City. When you’re big, you’re big.”

Other fans are more concerned about City's prospects of getting past Real Madrid. One said: “No Gundo, KDB is still finding his rhythm, No Mahrez, Haaland is missing tap-ins, Grealish is injured and you can't mention clean sheet and Manchester City in the same sentence. Not confident.”

Arsenal fans

Arsenal's reward for overcoming Porto in the round of 16 is a clash with Bayern Munich. The last time the two clubs met in the competition was in 2017 when the German side dismantled the Gunners over both legs. Bayern won 10-2 on aggregate, and Arsenal fans are clearly still scarred from both matches.

One Arsenal fan posted on X, “Arsenal have to beat Bayern Munich this time around. Enough is Enough. Saliba and Gabriel and co to stop them.” A second added, “Tough draw. BUT, the three hardest teams are all on our side of the bracket. If we beat Bayern and then City/Madrid over two legs then I think we win the whole thing. Either way, I’m just really excited.”
