Fiorentina now offer £47m to complete Stadio Artemio Franchi redevelopment as key decision delayed

ACF Fiorentina have offered to contribute money towards the remaining redevelopment of Stadio Artemio Franchi, providing a potential financial boost to the long-running project.

Fiorentina have formally declared their interest in helping finance the second phase of the Stadio Franchi redevelopment, with the Commisso family prepared to contribute approximately £47m towards the remaining works.

The city of Florence has identified at least £100m in funding as necessary to complete the entire project, with €55m still to be secured for the second phase.

However, Fiorentina's offer comes with conditions, including greater control over costs, a confirmed completion date and clarity over the future concession for the stadium. The club is also seeking the handover of the construction site once the first phase has been completed.

The latest development follows a delay in the decision on the public-private partnership proposal, which is intended to determine how the remaining redevelopment will be financed and delivered.

Fiorentina requested additional time to submit financial documentation, with the city accepting the extension. The paperwork is now undergoing further analysis.

Florence has also enlisted the Department of Management Engineering at Politecnico di Milano to assess the project's financial feasibility, costs and benefits.

The redevelopment is also significant for the city's ambitions to host Euro 2032, with mayor Sara Funaro confirming her intention to put Florence forward as a host city.
