How to get to MHPArena: Best ways for Everton fans to travel for Stuttgart pre-season friendly

Everton have had a mixed pre-season so far, winning two, drawing one and losing one of their four matches as they look to build on a solid campaign last season.

The Toffees will be hoping to push for European football this season, but there is a feeling that they are going to need more signings to make that achievable, particularly as Jack Grealish has returned to Man City from his loan spell on Merseyside.

Next up for Everton is a trip to Germany to take on Stuttgart on Saturday, 8 August. The match will be played at the MHPArena, Stuttgart's home, in what will be their toughest test of pre-season so far.

With Everton not competing in Europe this season, hundreds of Evertonians are expected to make the trip over to Germany to watch the Toffees in action. If you are one of these supporters, here are the best ways to travel to the MHPArena on matchday.

How to get to the MHPArena

By the Stuttgart Stadtbahn

Most fans elect to use the Stuttgart Stadtbahn to get to the MHPArena, as there are various stops around the city with a direct line to the stadium. The Stadtbahn is effectively the city's tram/metro service and has two stops within a short walk from the stadium (Mercedesstraße and NeckarPark).

To get to Mercedesstraße, fans need to board a U1 service, which runs regularly, while to get to NeckarPark, fans need to board a special U11 service, which only runs on matchdays.

By the S-Bahn

The S-Bahn is Germany's main rail network and can be used to get to the MHPArena. Line S1 takes fans from the city's main railway station to NeckarPark, while lines S2 and S3 can take fans to Bad Cannstatt Station, which is around a 20-minute walk away from the stadium.

Lines S2 and S3 generally run more frequently than S1, but if you plan your timings well, then you should be able to board an S1 train in time for a kick-off.

By bus

Fans can board bus number 56 from the centre of Stuttgart to get to the MHP Arena. There are stops throughout the city centre, but do not board any bus that isn't labelled #56.

By car

Depending on which direction you are coming from, there are multiple routes available to you if you are driving. We have detailed the main routes below.

From Munich, Augsburg, Ulm: Take the A8 and exit at Wendlingen towards Esslingen/Stuttgart and then the B10 towards Bad Cannstatt until you see the stadium.

From Karlsruhe: Take the A8 and exit for the Stuttgart interchange towards Stuttgart city centre. Then take the B14 towards Bad Cannstatt.

From Frankfurt: Take the A81 and exit at Zuffenhausen. Then, take the B10 towards Bad Cannstatt.

From Aalen: Take the B14 towards Stuttgart until you reach the Bad Cannstatt exit.

There are approximately 12,000 public parking spaces available in the NeckarPark area.
