Manchester United's pre-season tour will take them across Europe, with one of their stops set to be in Sweden for a match against Atletico Madrid at the Strawberry Arena in Stockholm.

The city and venue hold a special place in the hearts of many Manchester United supporters as it was the scene of their 2016 Europa League triumph over Ajax. As such, many Reds are planning on travelling back over to Stockholm for the friendly, while many more Swedish United fans are also expected to be in attendance.

The stadium is located around 8km north of the city centre, which means walking is not really a viable option for everyone planning on spending some time in the centre before kick-off. Below, we run through the best travel options available.

How to get to the Strawberry Arena

By train

One of the easiest ways to get to the Strawberry Arena from across Stockholm is via train. The closest train station to the stadium is Solna Station, which is located just a ten-minute walk away from the entrance.

Fans can get a direct train to Solna Station from Either Stockholm City Station or Stockholm Odenplan Station. The travel times from both stations are seven and four minutes, respectively.

By metro

The Stockholm metro system (not to be confused with the tram system) is another viable way to get to the Strawberry Arena from the centre of Stockholm.

Metro users should take the blue line (no. 11) from T-Centralen in the city centre and get off at either Solna centrum or Nacka. The walk to the stadium from Sola centrum is around 20 minutes, while the walk from Nackrosen is around 15 minutes.

By tram

The Stockholm tram system serves Solna centrum and the southern entrance of Solna train station. The benefit of using the tram or the metro over the train is that they both run more frequently, giving you more opportunities to get to the stadium should you miss your first one.

By bus

There are several buses in the city centre that will take you to the Strawberry Arena, or nearby at the very least. The closest bus stop to the ground is Arenan.

By car

Driving to the Strawberry Arena is strongly discouraged as there is no parking at the stadium. Instead, fans are asked to use the public transport options listed above or park at the Westfield Mall of Scandinavia and walk across.
