Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami CF have secured a major commercial breakthrough ahead of their long-awaited move into a brand-new stadium, confirming a landmark naming rights agreement for their future home.

According to The Stadium Business, Major League Soccer side announced a multi-year partnership with Brazilian digital finance company Nu, meaning the club’s new venue at Miami Freedom Park will officially be called Nu Stadium when it opens in 2026.

The agreement represents a significant milestone for Inter Miami as the club prepares to leave their temporary home in Fort Lauderdale and move into a permanent stadium built specifically for the rapidly growing franchise.

Nu Stadium to become Inter Miami’s new home

The new stadium forms the centrepiece of the wider Miami Freedom Park development, a massive sports and entertainment complex located close to Miami International Airport.

With a capacity of around 26,700 seats, the venue will host Major League Soccer matches, concerts and other major events throughout the year.

The stadium is scheduled to officially open on April 4, 2026, when Inter Miami host Austin FC in their inaugural match at the new ground.

Club executives described the partnership with Nu as a natural fit given the shared global ambitions of both organisations.

In announcing the agreement, the club said the collaboration would help create new fan experiences and unique spaces within the stadium, including a premium hospitality lounge and a central fan plaza.

The deal also highlights the growing commercial power of Inter Miami since Messi’s arrival in 2023, which dramatically boosted the club’s global profile and sponsorship appeal.

Messi era driving Inter Miami’s global growth

Since signing for Inter Miami, Messi has played a key role in transforming the club’s stature both on and off the pitch.

The Argentine icon extended his contract with the club through 2028, ensuring he will help lead the team into their new stadium era.

Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham has long pushed for a permanent stadium in Miami, with the project overcoming years of delays before construction finally began in 2023.

The Miami Freedom Park project spans more than 130 acres, combining the stadium with retail, entertainment and public spaces designed to create a year-round destination for fans and visitors.

FGG Says

Inter Miami’s naming rights deal for Nu Stadium highlights just how powerful the Messi effect has become in global football.

Few MLS clubs have ever commanded such commercial attention, and securing a major international fintech partner for the stadium underscores the club’s ambition to position itself among football’s most marketable brands.

With a new stadium, a global superstar in Messi and the influence of David Beckham behind the scenes, Inter Miami are attempting to build something far bigger than a typical MLS club, a global entertainment brand anchored by one of the most exciting new venues in American soccer.
