Man Utd friendlies: How to watch in the UK and on tour

Manchester United are undergoing one of their most important pre-seasons in a long time as the club looks to hit the reset button under the guidance of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his new INEOS-led football structure at the club.

For the previous 19 years, but more specifically the last 11 since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, pre-season has been a period of chaos at Old Trafford. The club have spent many a summer chasing ‘big names' and glamour signings over getting players through the door who actually suit the manager and their preferred style of football.

Things are seemingly different this time around, which has only raised interest in Man Utd friendlies this summer. They have already played two matches – a 1-0 loss to Rosenborg and a 2-0 win over Rangers – and now they have headed to the USA for the Man Utd pre-season tour.

For everything you need to know about who they are playing, when they are playing and how to watch and/or get tickets, check out our guide below.

Who are Man Utd playing in pre-season friendlies?

Manchester United started their pre-season with a match against Rosenborg at the Lerkendal Stadion on 15 July. Due to international commitments, the United team was largely made up of youth team players, and they lost 1-0.

On 20 July, a similar Man Utd team faced Rangers at Murrayfield in Edinburgh. This time, they fared a lot better and won 2-0 thanks to goals from Amad Diallo and Joe Hugill.

In the USA, Man Utd have three matches to look forward to, against Arsenal, Real Betis and Liverpool. They will then complete their pre-season when they take on Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium.

Tickets for Man Utd friendlies

Unsurprisingly, tickets for all three of Man Utd's matches on their USA Tour sold out quickly when they first went on sale back in February. However, fans can still purchase tickets for all three matches via Ticketmaster's official resale platform.

All original tickets for the matches against Arsenal, Real Betis and Liverpool were sold exclusively through Ticketmaster, meaning this is the safest and most legitimate way to get your hands on tickets for these three games.

Tickets in the Man Utd end for the Community Shield are all sold out. They originally went on sale to season ticket holders before official members were given the opportunity to snap up the remaining tickets.

Where to watch Man Utd in pre-season

The only way to watch all of Man Utd's pre-season matches, with the exception of the Community Shield, is via MUTV.

Fans can choose one of two options when subscribing to MUTV. They can either purchase an annual pass for £29.99 or a monthly pass for £7.99. Although the annual pass works out cheaper in the long run, many fans are only interested in the service for pre-season, so purchasing a monthly pass may make more sense.

The Community Shield is being shown live on ITV1 in the UK, meaning fans can watch the clash with Man City without having to pay or subscribe to anything. However, if they want to stream it they can do so by downloading ITVX.
