Manchester City fans react to rescheduled Brighton match

The TV selections have been made for the Premier League matches in the last two weekends of April.

However, Manchester City are unhappy with the information provided on their rescheduled away trip to Brighton & Hove Albion.

‘Minor disgrace’ – Short notice for Manchester City supporters

City’s away match at Brighton has been rescheduled to Thursday, April 25, as it was originally meant to take place on the weekend of the FA Cup quarter-final. Pep Guardiola’s side beat Newcastle 2-0 and progressed to the semi-final.

However, the Premier League also provided the following information on the upcoming game at the Amex Stadium: “This will move to 20:00 Wed 24 April should Man City be scheduled to play in the Champions League on Tue 30 April.”

This has not gone down well with City fans, who have bemoaned the lack of clarity from the Premier League. @AmosMurphy_ said: “This is nothing short of a minor disgrace. City’s away game against Brighton rescheduled for Thurs 25th April. But if City progress into the CL semis, that could be rearranged again to Weds 24th April with less than a week’s notice. Scandalous decision.” @paddrr_ said: “I cant believe the club dont have any say or just let it happen. If they put brighton on the Tue or wed then forest saturday it makes sense? Probably too much sense though.”

City face Real Madrid in a two-legged Champions League quarter-final in April with the second leg at the Etihad Stadium taking place on April 17. If they progress, a semi-final first-leg tie against Arsenal or Bayern Munich awaits, which could lead to further rescheduling of the Brighton match.

@PhilBlundell said: “Manchester City and Brighton find out if they’re playing on a Wednesday or a Thursday on the previous Wednesday. Not like any City fans need to sort time off work, or hotels, or trains.”

Uncertainty over Forest trip

In a club statement, City said: “Also changing dates is our trip to face Nottingham Forest, which is now scheduled to take place on Sunday 28 April with a 16:30 (UK) kick-off for coverage on Sky Sports in the UK.

“However, should City reach the Champions League semi-final and play the first leg on Tuesday 30 April, our game against Forest will be played on Saturday 27 April with a 17:30 (UK) kick-off.”
