Sea of orange as Netherlands fans march through Hamburg

Dutch fans in Hamburg showed us all what the Euros are about – supporting your team passionately, loudly and most importantly, displaying their colours as much as possible wherever you are.

They certainly ticked all three of those boxes in abundance and displayed the correct way to show love to your team in the best way possible.

Several videos emerged on social media, depicting what appeared to be a thriving sea of orange moving its way through the streets in the city just hours before their side's opening match at Euro 2024.

Of course, it is still early days in the tournament, but these Netherlands fans may have just produced one of the best moments from a fandom perspective of the entire competition.

Fans react to ‘Sea of Orange'

Hundreds of supporters from a variety of countries flocked to social media to praise the Netherlands fans after the videos first began to emerge.

One fan took to X, formerly Twitter, to say: “The Dutch always bring the best atmosphere!”

While another chose to hail the images as a “Wonderful part of football.”

It is hard to disagree with either of those two statements, it truly was a magical moment from the Netherlands supporters.

Not the first time Netherlands fans have impressed

Dutch supporters have become iconic within the sport over the years and are widely regarded as one of the most passionate fanbases across Europe. They have long been an asset to their team, something which Frenkie De Jong has touched on previously.

Speaking ahead of the 2022 World Cup, the 27-year-old said: “The Netherlands fans are amazing. How they are at tournaments, with a huge number of them in orange, gives an amazing image and a really nice feeling.

“I get goosebumps every time I see them and it makes you even prouder to play for your country.”
