Crystal Palace supporters have finally been given tangible evidence that the long-awaited redevelopment of Selhurst Park is moving forward.

Fresh images show a major milestone has now been reached after years of delays and uncertainty surrounding the project.

Selhurst Park redevelopment latest

Palace's long-awaited Selhurst Park redevelopment has entered its most significant phase yet, with fresh images showing the demolition of the six houses on Wooderson Close now well underway.

More than eight years after planning permission was first granted, the homes adjacent to the Main Stand are being cleared to make way for the club's ambitious redevelopment.

At the time of the latest update, the properties appear to have already been demolished, creating a clear line of sight to the stadium for the first time.

The residents have all been relocated after receiving compensation and equivalent homes elsewhere within the London Borough of Croydon, while construction hoardings have also appeared in the club car park where a temporary hospitality facility will be built during the works.

Away from the demolition, The Athletic have revealed that Palace have also completed the relocation of the away dressing rooms, moved club offices into the former Crystals nightclub building and drained the flooded Holmesdale basement, with a series of enabling works taking place behind the scenes.

Although the demolition is technically still part of the preliminary phase, the scale of the work now completed, alongside the millions already invested and the detailed construction plans submitted, leaves little doubt that the Main Stand redevelopment is finally moving towards full construction.

The new Main Stand will replace the existing 102-year-old structure, increasing capacity and delivering improved hospitality facilities, accessibility and matchday amenities as part of one of the biggest transformations in the club's history.

FGG says: Selhurst Park redevelopment finally gathers real momentum

After years of false starts, planning delays and uncertainty, this is the clearest sign yet that Selhurst Park's long-awaited transformation is genuinely happening.

Eagles supporters have waited patiently to see meaningful progress, and the demolition of Wooderson Close marks the first truly visible milestone in a redevelopment that has been promised for the best part of a decade.

While there is still a long road ahead before the new Main Stand opens, it finally feels like Crystal Palace are turning years of ambition into reality.
