Former Rangers striker, Kenny Miller, has warned the club's fans to be careful what they wish for in relation to James Tavernier and Connor Goldson.
The two experienced defenders have come under fire by Rangers fans this season with plenty of Gers supporters blaming the pair for the recent 3-2 loss to Ross County. The defeat gave Celtic control of the title race in Scotland and led to calls for the duo, who are the club's captain and vice-captain, to be dropped for the remainder of the season.
Former striker, Miller, believes that the club have far bigger problems than the duo. He said:
“When it comes to the priority areas for the manager – do you honestly believe the right side of his defence will be one of them? Of all the positions that need upgrading, James Tavernier’s isn’t one of them.
“Even in the case of Connor Goldson at centre-back, I think there are far more pressing matters for Clement to deal with.
“Let’s get one thing straight. Both players have been incredible servants to Rangers. Through all the highs and lows – and three different managers – Tavernier and Goldson have always been available and never hid once. Having guys like that in the dressing room is priceless.”
Rangers fans call for Tavernier and Goldson to leave in the summer
A recent poll conducted by a popular Rangers website found that more than 90% of supporters want Connor Goldson to be dropped from the starting XI. The general feeling is that the defender should leave the club in the summer with many Gers fans in agreement that his legs have perhaps given up on him.
Seeing all these rumours etc about Gerrard wanting goldson and tavernier yes they have served us well and I personally thank them for it but their time is done time to move on @RangersFC

There is supposedly interest from Saudi Arabia for the pair with Steven Gerrard reportedly keen to work with the duo again. However, Miller has told Rangers fans to be “very careful what you wish for”. He added:
“I’ve heard people saying Goldson’s legs have gone and he’s finished. Listen, I played until I was 38 and he’s only 31. And he’s a centre-back. Davie Weir played in that position at 41. He’s on the wrong side of 30 and for any footballer at that age, you have to start relying on other things like game
intelligence and positioning.”
“In terms of Tavernier, everyone knows what I think of the captain. It's ridiculous to be talking about the right side of Clement’s defence when it’s the left side that has needed fixing for some time now. Does Tav make mistakes? Absolutely. But does Lionel Messi make mistakes? Yes. The best players in the world make them.”
