Rijeka head coach Zeljko Sopic has shut down reports linking him with the vacant Aberdeen role by making fun of himself and the Scottish weather.
Peter Leven is currently in charge of the Scottish club following Neil Warnock’s shock resignation as interim manager after only 34 days.
Aberdeen look to appoint manager imminently
Aberdeen’s board have stepped up their attempts to appoint a new manager during the international break, with crunch matches coming up at the end of the season.
The Scottish Cup semi-final against Celtic is on April 20, and the Aberdeen directors are keen on making an appointment in preparation for the match.
However, Sopic has declared that he will not be taking the vacant role in an interview with Super Sport.
Sopic to stay at Rijeka
Sopic has led Rijeka to first place in the SuperSport Hrvatska nogometna liga (HNL), sitting four points above Hajduk Split and five points clear of Dinamo Zagreb.
Given Sopic’s impressive management this campaign, he has been heavily linked with the Aberdeen job, but he was quick to dismiss these rumours.
He told SuperSport, “Aberdeen want me? It's constantly raining there, and that's not good for my hairstyle at all.”
