Sporting fans celebrate with green pyros

Sporting fans were in party mood after they drew 2-2 with Porto to move Ruben Amorim’s side closer to the league title. Videos of Sporting fans with hundreds of green pyros were circulated on social media. In the video below, fans were seen chanting in a mist of green, with fireworks going regularly, while they waited to welcome the players back from Porto.

Maciej Rogowski also posted four pictures of Sporting fans inside the Estádio do Dragão. Like the fans back in Lisbon, the Sporting fans pictured were barely visible due to the number of green pyros lighting up the away section. The more zoomed in photos posted by Rogowski showed Sporting fans in masks at the front waving green pyros with flags and banners that said: “Sporting Clube de Portugal”.

A point on the road

Sporting found themselves 2-0 behind against Porto on Sunday, thanks to goals from Evanilson and Pepe in the first-half. However, Amorim’s side hit back with a brace from Viktor Gyökeres in the 87th and 88th minutes.

The Swedish striker has scored 40 goals in 46 games this season, including 26 in Liga Portugal. If Sporting wrap up the title in the next couple of weeks, Gyökeres will become a legend in Lisbon.
