Sunderland have unveiled a series of upgrades at the Stadium of Light ahead of their second season back in the Premier League, with improvements being made across hospitality, concourse facilities and the food and drink offering.
The changes come as the club continue to consider the future of their 49,000-capacity home, with chief executive Tom Burwell recently revealing that a potential expansion could cost as much as £250m.
What has changed at the Stadium of Light?
All hospitality boxes at the Stadium of Light have undergone a full refurbishment, which Sunderland say will provide a “significant uplift” in their look and feel, while new padded seats have also been installed.
Supporters will also have access to a new pre-ordering portal, allowing them to create a more bespoke hospitality experience and add upgrades before matchday.
The club have also introduced The Coalfields, a new space within the Montgomery Suite that will allow supporters to experience hospitality on a match-by-match basis.
The area takes inspiration from Sunderland and the region's mining heritage.

Elsewhere, improvements have been made to stadium entrances and staircase areas, while two new kiosks have been added to the lower bowl in the West and East Stands to increase service capacity and reduce queue times.
Sunderland have extended their partnership with Rollover to introduce additional mobile hotdog carts, while a new agreement with Wrights will provide supporters with more food options across the concourses.
The stadium's drinks range has also been expanded, with Vaux's Wise Men Say, a 4% session pale ale, set to be available from the Arsenal fixture on September 12.
Sunderland's first home game of the new Premier League season will come against Fulham this Sunday, while the Black Cats will also compete in the Europa League after finishing seventh last season.
The upgrades arrive alongside longer-term discussions about expanding the Stadium of Light.
In June, Burwell revealed that a potential expansion of the 49,000-capacity ground could cost as much as £250m.
Speaking at the club's Supporters' Collective Meeting, Burwell described expansion as a “constant topic of discussion”, although no expansion has been confirmed.
FGG Says: Sunderland are laying the foundations for a bigger Stadium of Light
The latest improvements represent a welcome investment in the matchday experience as Sunderland prepare for their return to the Premier League and a first European campaign in decades.
The hospitality upgrades, additional kiosks and wider food and drink offering should provide immediate benefits for supporters, while the potential £250m expansion would take the Stadium of Light to another level if the club ultimately decides to proceed.
For now, though, the focus should be on making the most of the existing stadium, and these upgrades are a positive step as Sunderland prepare for a hugely significant season.
