UEFA ban Bayern Munich supporters for next European away fixture

The UEFA Disciplinary Committee has banned Bayern Munich from selling tickets for their next away match in Europe.

Bayern fans set off red pyrotechnics in the away end, as well as reportedly throwing objects.

Bayern Munich on probation

Before the match against Lazio on February 14, Bayern Munich were already on probation due to the use of pyrotechnics during their UEFA Champions League group stage match against Copenhagen in October.

The club were fined €40,000 for this and warned by UEFA about the potential sanctions on the club if pyrotechnics were used for future European away games.

Probation lifted – Away fans banned for next European away game

Bayern were fined €40,000 for the use of pyrotechnics away at Lazio, but were also given an additional €10,750 fine for the alleged throwing of objects onto the pitch.

The club’s probation has now been lifted, meaning that Bayern are now banned from selling away tickets for the next European match.

Bayern ultra group hit back

Freelance journalist Matt Ford also posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the most well-known Bayern ultra group, “Schickeria”, have criticised the security at the Stadio Olimpico, as well as accusing the Lazio fans of throwing objects.

@matt_4d said: “In their fanzine after the trip, Bayern’s “Schickeria” ultras criticised length security checks at the Stadio Olimpico and the prohibition of banners depicting Carlo Ancelotti and Che Guevara. They also said bangers and other objects were thrown by home fans.”
