Valencia have secured a major financial boost ahead of their long-awaited move to Nou Mestalla, agreeing a €100m (£90m) investment deal with a consortium, Pitchwise Holdings.
The agreement will provide fresh capital for the club as construction continues on their new 70,044-capacity stadium, which is scheduled to open in summer 2027.
Valencia secure £90m investment for Nou Mestalla stadium project
The deal will see Pitchwise Holdings acquire shares from existing owner Meriton Holdings and ultimately take a 42% stake in Valencia, with the transaction valuing the club at an enterprise value of €1.25bn (£1bn).
Meriton will remain the majority shareholder, while Kiat Lim will continue as president. The agreement remains subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals.
Pitchwise is a consortium of family offices and long-term institutional investors led by sports executives Ann Rodriguez and Corey Woolfolk.
Its backers include KKR co-founders George Roberts and Henry Kravis, alongside Penner Sports Group, which has interests in the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies.
The capital injection will be available for direct investment in the club as Valencia prepare for a new chapter at Nou Mestalla.
Construction resumed in January 2025 after the project had been suspended since February 2009.
FCC Construccion is completing the stadium, which will feature more than 6,500 hospitality seats, restaurants, a megastore, museum and auditorium, alongside a roof covering every seat and incorporating solar panels.
Valencia are also seeking a naming-rights partner, having appointed Elevate to commercialise the opportunity.
The club hopes to maximise revenue from hospitality, retail and major events once the venue opens ahead of the 2027-28 season.
FGG says: Valencia's stadium plans receive a significant financial boost
The £90m investment represents an important development for Valencia as they approach the long-awaited completion of Nou Mestalla.
Fresh capital and experienced sports investors could help the club prepare for the move while developing the commercial opportunities offered by a modern stadium.
However, the deal is not a guarantee that every challenge will disappear. Valencia must still complete construction, secure the necessary approvals and turn the new venue into a sustainable source of revenue.
With a summer 2027 opening targeted, this agreement provides fresh momentum at a crucial stage of the project.
