Watch: Football fans take part in controversial Kurt Zouma joke

Kurt Zouma's sketchy past with animals is well-documented. Back in 2022, footage emerged of the West Ham defender kicking his pet cat around his house much to the horror of viewers online. The incident was unsavoury, to say the least, and despite calls from animal protection services for West Ham to sever ties with the footballer, the club stood by their captain.

Zouma was given a £250,000 fine by the club and the RSPCA took his two cats from him but the the ex-Chelsea man never faced any kind of ban for his actions. Despite effectively getting away with it, Zouma hasn't been allowed to forget about his actions from visiting supporters who have revelled in being able to sing songs to him about it.

A group of football fans on a stag do have taken things one step further this weekend in footage that would undoubtedly make the Frenchman cringe. The footage shows one member of the stag party, dressed as a cat, running away from the rest of the group who are all dressed in West Ham kits with ‘Zouma' written on the back.

Kurt Zouma joke heads to cat protection shop

The original video quickly went viral on social media platform X to the point where people in Leeds started tracking their movements to see what they were up to. At one point, the group headed to a ‘cat protection' shop in the city where they pretended to kick the individual dressed up as a cat. It was perhaps at this point, they realised they might be better off just going to the pub.

The fancy dress split opinion on X. One person posted: “This is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen” while another added: “Literally the greatest stag do ever.”

However, there were plenty who didn't seem to find it amusing. One said: “These LADS have the worst patter going. Imagine bumping into them on a night out.” Another said: “Weird fanbase condoning animal abuse and finding it hilarious. Grown men these lads too, embarrassing.”

A third added: “One of the most cringe things I've ever seen.”
