Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac have finally given supporters the clearest indication yet over when the club’s long-awaited new Kop Stand will be ready.
After years of planning delays, demolition work and construction buildup at the Racecourse Ground, the Hollywood owners have now publicly committed to a target opening date for the major redevelopment project.
Wrexham owners offer firm date for Kop Stand opening
Speaking in a recent interview with Collider, Mac confirmed the new Kop Stand is expected to open for the beginning of the 2027/28 season.
During a light-hearted exchange with Reynolds, Mac initially joked that the stand would be ready for the “2007/2008 season” before correcting himself and confirming supporters should be sitting in the new stand by the start of the 2027/28 campaign.
He said: “It’s going to be ready for the start of the 2027/2028 season. It’s going to be open for business people, and that means butts in seats.”
The redevelopment is expected to add around 5,000 to 6,000 seats to the Racecourse Ground, and forms a central part of Wrexham’s wider growth plans following their rapid rise under Reynolds and Mac’s ownership.
Construction has recently entered a major new phase, with the first steelwork now being installed at the site after months of groundwork, piling and preparation work behind the goal.
Reynolds also joked about Mac’s determination to complete difficult projects, saying: “If you tell Rob ‘impossible,’ you watch his pupils suddenly dilate, and something happens internally.”
The Kop redevelopment is expected to cost close to £70 million, with Wrexham contributing the majority of the funding.

FGG says: Wrexham fans will be relieved to finally have a clear target
For Wrexham supporters, this is arguably the most reassuring update yet, a firm – and very public – timeline after years of uncertainty and repeated delays.
With steelwork now rising visibly above the Racecourse, fans can finally start to imagine a completed stand replacing the long‑derelict Kop end.
If everything stays on schedule, the opening of the new Kop will mark another major milestone in Wrexham’s extraordinary rise under Reynolds and Mac.
