Omar Marmoush was signed by Manchester City back in January 2025 for a fee of £59m, and although he is yet to hit the heights expected of a player with that price tag, he has shown flashes of brilliance.

The best is yet to come for Marmoush, but Man City fans are prepared to wait for that, given the club currently has Erling Haaland as a fairly reliable source of goals, to put it mildly.

Has Marmoush done enough yet in a blue shirt to warrant his own Man City chant? Regardless of the answer to that question, the City faithful have given him one.

For all the details on the Omar Marmoush chant, including the lyrics and tune, we have you covered below.

Omar Marmoush chant, lyrics and tune

The Omar Marmous chant is sung to the tune of ‘Hooray! Hooray! It's a Holi-Holiday' by Boney M. The lyrics are as follows:

Marmoush, Marmoush

Omar Marmoush

He gets the ball and scores a goal

Omar Marmoush

Omar Marmoush chant background

The Omar Marmoush chant was created by Man City fans fairly early on in his Man City career, during the second half of the 2024/25 season.

The Egyptian scored seven Premier League goals during his first 16 appearances for City, so it is understandable that City fans were excited about what he was capable of. Within those seven goals were a couple of screamers, too, which always creates a fanfare around a player.

There is some controversy around the tune used for Marmoush, though. Manchester United fans famously used the tune for Andy Cole in the 1990s, and they have long accused City fans of nicking all of their best football chants, with this being the latest example.

There are, therefore, some City fans who are reluctant to go all-in on this chant.

FGG says: A tragic effort

The reason why the Man Utd song for Andy Cole worked was because ‘Cole' rhymed with ‘goal', which is a key part of the tune making sense. Marmoush doesn't rhyme with goal, so this effort just falls completely flat. For now, it will have to do, but if the forward does fulfil his potential, something better will need to replace it.
