Emi Buendia has had a rollercoaster of a career at Aston Villa, joining from Norwich City back in 2021 and enjoying a solid few years before suffering an ACL injury in 2023, which derailed his time at Villa Park.

The Emi Buendia chant was actually created before the Argentinian had kicked a ball for the club. The video below was published in August 2021, before Aston Villa's first Premier League game of the season, such was the excitement about the signing among Villa fans.
Buendia was hot property that summer following a stellar campaign in the Championship with Norwich City. In the end, he cost the club £33 million, and fans were naturally excited about seeing him in a Villa shirt for the first time.
The chant references his Argentinian heritage and the fact that he is a diminutive player, at just 5ft 7 inches. It also claims that he is ‘football heaven', which is a bold call, to say the least.

After being linked with arch rivals Birmingham City during the 2025 summer transfer window, Emi Buendia stayed put at Villa Park, where he enjoyed his best-ever campaign in the Premier League, as well as picking up silverware on the continent.
The former Norwich man scored six goals and provided two assists across 36 top-flight appearances as the Villans secured a top-four finish, subsequently qualifying for next season's Champions League under Unai Emery.
The Second City club and the Argentine also enjoyed success in the Europa League, lifting UEFA's second-tier club competition to end Villa's 30-year wait for a major honour – with Buendia scoring and assisting in the final.

Buendia's chant was not heard for several years due to his long-term ACL injury and loan stint at Bayer Leverkusen, but it started to slowly make its return as the attacking midfielder began producing throughout the 2025/26 season.
Now heading into the 2026/27 campaign, with Buendia needing to help replace the departed Rogers' attacking output, expect to hear Villa fans consistently chanting the Argentine's song to help encourage their number 10.
