Emi Buendia has had a rollercoaster of a career at Aston Villa. He signed for the club from Norwich City back in 2021 and had a solid couple of years for the club before he suffered an ACL injury in 2023, which derailed his time at Villa Park.
A loan spell at Bayer Leverkusen followed upon his return from injury, but after returning to the Midlands in the summer of 2025, he has managed to re-establish himself in Unai Emery's first team squad.
During the first half of Buendia's time at the club, the Villa faithful took a shine to him and created him his very own Aston Villa chant.
For all the most important information on this football chant, including the lyrics and tune it is sung to, keep reading.

Emi Buendia,
From Argentina,
He signed from Villa,
From Carrow Road,
He's five foot seven,
He's football heaven,
Please don't take my Emi away
Emi Buendia chant background
The Emi Buendia chant was actually created before the Argentinian had kicked a ball for the club. The video below was published in August 2021, before Aston Villa's first Premier League game of the season, such was the excitement about the signing among Villa fans.
Buendia was hot property that summer following a stellar campaign in the Championship with Norwich City. In the end, he cost the club £33 million, and fans were naturally excited about seeing him in a Villa shirt for the first time.
The chant references his Argentinian heritage and the fact that he is a diminutive player, at just 5ft 7 inches. It also claims that he is ‘football heaven', which is a bold call, to say the least.

FGG says: A forgotten chant that could be resurrected
This is a chant that hasn't been sung for several years now due to Buendia's long-term ACL injury and his loan stint at Bayer Leverkusen. However, the player has worked hard to get himself back in the Villa starting XI this season, and he has been one of the club's best performers. If he keeps his current form up, it won't be long until this is ringing around Villa Park.
