Everton stadium update: New jobs & expansion plans unveiled

Plans for Everton's move to their new stadium at Bramley-Moor Dock are in top gear, with the latest report revealing that the club has announced one of the biggest recruitment drives in its history.

The Director of Everton New Stadium Development Alix Waldron said the new football project at Everton will not just be a significant milestone for Merseyside but also a significant boost for the economy.

Thousands are expected to land new jobs as the Toffees prepare to exit Goodison Park at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Everton stadium update: More than 500 stadium stewards needed

The latest recruitment drive by Everton FC targets mostly stewards as they plan a move to their new ground for the 2025/26 season.

The new stadium is a 52-000-capacity venue, which is at least 11,000 more seats than Goodison Park's capacity. Everton's current home ground has a 39,000-seating capacity.

Therefore, more seats at Bramley-Moore Dock means more stewards are needed in various capacities.

Currently, Everton use around 500 stewards on matchdays at Goodison Park. However, the club will need to double that number once they move to the new venue if they want to achieve effective crowd management and service delivery.

Beyond football, the additional stewards will be deployed to other areas on the ground, including during events staged at Bramley-Moor Dock.

From lounge, accessibility, and safety to crowd stewards, assessment for the newly announced casual workers will take place between November this year and January 2025.

The early recruitment of the stewards is being undertaken to enable the new employees to familiarize themselves with the new ground.

The latest Everton stadium update on recruitment underscores the biggest recruitment drive in the club's history.

Thousands of locals are expected to land jobs at the new venue. The latest job announcement will see an additional 500 stewards or more added on top of at least a similar number working at Goodison Park.

Earlier, Everton's recruitment drive ahead of their move to the new stadium targeted relationship managers and customer service advisers.

Future Everton stadium updates will include more job openings in areas such as catering, so keep it here at Football Ground Guide for more in the coming weeks and months.

Possible future expansion of Bramley-Moor Dock

In the wake of recent recruitment drives, it is emerging that new Everton owners Friedkin Group are mulling a possibility of expanding the new stadium in the future.

A plan to expand the east side of the venue is a possibility, but club sources intimate that it remains a distant possibility unless there is a need for it.  The Toffees are yet to occupy the new stadium, which isn't fully completed, but are expected to become residents by the start of the 2025/26 season. The new stadium will reach 52,888 capacity and is set to cost Everton £750m to complete before it opens ahead of next season.

It is said the Friedkin Group are likely to buy more in the future, especially around Bramley-Moor Dock. However, that will only happen once the current deal to acquire a controlling stake of 94.1% from current owner Farhad Moshiri is completed.
