Fresh reports have cast new doubt over the destination of the 2030 World Cup final amid the growing crisis surrounding FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

The latest claims suggest Morocco's flagship stadium could now be offered the showpiece event despite the Bernabeu being widely regarded as the frontrunner.

Infantino has reportedly offered Morocco the opportunity to host the 2030 World Cup final at the new 115,000-capacity Grand Stade Hassan II as he battles mounting pressure over his future.

According to reports, Infantino made the offer while meeting FIFA officials in Morocco, with claims he is seeking public backing from one of his strongest allies following fierce criticism over his abandoned proposal to sell stakes in FIFA's competitions to private investors.

The 2030 World Cup will be co-hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco, with three centenary matches also taking place in South America. Until now, Real Madrid's Bernabeu stadium had been viewed as the leading candidate to stage the final.

The report claims Morocco could instead be handed the tournament's biggest match if the country's football authorities publicly support Infantino as calls for his resignation continue to grow.

Pressure on the FIFA president intensified further this week after former Portugal captain Luis Figo labelled his conduct “the lowest, most deceitful and cravenly self-interested behaviour” he had witnessed, while Arsène Wenger also distanced himself from the failed investment proposal, insisting he had no involvement and that withdrawing it was “absolutely necessary”.

The venue for a World Cup final should be determined by sporting, logistical and operational merit rather than political considerations.

With preparations for 2030 already well underway, any perception that the showpiece match could be used as leverage would only create further uncertainty around the tournament.

Morocco's new Grand Stade Hassan II is undoubtedly an extraordinary project and deserves to play a major role in the World Cup.
