Construction of Morocco's flagship World Cup stadium continues to gather momentum, with fresh footage revealing further progress on one of football's most ambitious new venues.
The Grand Stade Hassan II is set to become the largest football stadium in Africa when it opens ahead of the 2030 tournament.

New footage has provided the latest glimpse of construction work on the Grand Stade Hassan II, the spectacular 115,000-capacity stadium being built near Casablanca for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The venue is taking shape in El Mansouria, around 40 kilometres north of Casablanca, where extensive earthworks and foundation construction continue across the vast site.
Once completed in 2028, the stadium will become the largest football stadium in Africa and the second largest in the world, serving as the new home of the Morocco national team as well as domestic giants Raja CA and Wydad AC.
Designed by Populous alongside Moroccan architects Oualalou + Choi, the stadium draws inspiration from the traditional Moroccan moussem festival, with a striking tent-like aluminium roof set to cover the enormous seating bowl.
The project also includes elevated gardens, extensive public spaces and five levels of hospitality capable of accommodating around 12,000 VIP and hospitality guests, alongside a wider 100-hectare sports and entertainment district.
The Moroccan government is investing around five billion dirhams (approximately £375 million) into the project, which is expected to be completed by late 2028 and is thought to be in contention to host the 2030 World Cup final.

Even at this early stage, it's easy to appreciate the sheer scale of the Grand Stade Hassan II.
If construction continues on schedule, Morocco will have one of the most distinctive and impressive football venues anywhere in the world by the time the 2030 World Cup arrives.
After a memorable 2026 tournament across North America, attention now naturally turns towards Spain, Portugal and Morocco.
If this stadium delivers on its promise, it has every chance of becoming one of the defining images of the next World Cup and a fitting stage for football's biggest occasion.
