The Services Conference relating to the technical and economic feasibility project for Roma's proposed Pietralata stadium has concluded with a positive opinion, as per reports in Italy.

The final approval was announced by Extraordinary Commissioner Massimo Sessa at the Superior Council of Public Works, with Rome mayor Roberto Gualtieri and Lazio Region president Francesco Rocca present, while Sports Minister Andrea Abodi joined remotely.

The process was completed in just 90 days, significantly quicker than the 270 days initially envisaged.

Gualtieri described the decision as a historic moment for Rome and said the city now has the right conditions to build the 60,605-seater stadium.

He also expressed hope that work could begin in 2027, with construction expected to take around two and a half years.

Minister Abodi also welcomed the decision, describing it as an important moment for the city and highlighting the work completed in a short period of time.

Roma's new stadium has long been planned for the Pietralata area, with the project now moving closer to the construction phase after the latest approval.

Commissioner Sessa said the decision represented a major step and confirmed that work would now focus on preparing the tender process and speeding up the next stages.
