The UEFA Nations League continued across Europe on Saturday, October 3, with the final Matchday 3 fixtures taking place across several groups.

There were several eye-catching results, including England thrashing Croatia 7-0 in Rijeka, a record defeat for the hosts, and Spain beating ten-man Czechia 3-1 in Oviedo for their tenth successive win.

Scotland won 2-0 away to North Macedonia, their first win under Sebastien Pocognoli, while Switzerland came from behind to beat Slovenia 2-1. Estonia edged Luxembourg 1-0, and Iceland beat Bulgaria 3-0.

The largest attendance of the day came in Oviedo, where 28,515 supporters watched world champions Spain at the Estadio Nuevo Carlos Tartiere. Switzerland's win over Slovenia was the only other fixture to pass 10,000, with the remaining four matches all drawing fewer than 10,000 fans.

Here, FootballGroundGuide reveals the biggest football attendances in Europe for October 3, 2026.

Spain's Oviedo return tops attendance charts as Carlos Tartiere nears capacity

Spain's night in Oviedo was the standout by a distance. A crowd of 28,515 filled the Estadio Nuevo Carlos Tartiere, which holds around 30,500, so the home of Real Oviedo was roughly 93% full for the visit of Czechia.

The occasion was a special one for the city. The newly crowned world champions were back in Oviedo for the first time in 11 years, since a 2-0 win over Slovakia in a European Championship qualifier. Fans were watching a team that had just lifted the World Cup, and they saw Spain win 3-1.

Lamine Yamal scored an early opener for the third game running, and captain Rodri doubled the lead. Jiri Slama pulled one back for Czechia, but Mikel Merino sealed the win after visiting captain Ladislav Krejci was sent off.

The gap to the rest of the list is striking. Switzerland v Slovenia drew 15,240 to the Swissporarena, roughly half of Spain's figure. After that, the numbers fall away quickly: 8,256 watched Scotland win in Skopje, and 7,211 saw Estonia beat Luxembourg in Tallinn.

Scotland's win in North Macedonia had its own milestones, with Kieron Bowie scoring his first goal for his country and Andy Robertson winning his 100th cap, in Scotland's first victory under Sebastien Pocognoli.

The most eye-catching entry is Croatia 0-7 England. A seven-goal win would normally suggest a big-match atmosphere, yet only 6,342 were at Stadion HNK Rijeka, the lowest of the top four. At the other end, Iceland's 3-0 win over Bulgaria drew 5,069 to Laugardalsvollur.
