The City Ground has been Nottingham Forest's home since 1898, with the historic venue situated on the banks of the River Trent in West Bridgford.

With a current capacity of 31,212, the stadium remains a traditional English football ground, although plans to expand it could eventually transform it into one of the country's largest club venues.

Here, FootballGroundGuide looks at the City Ground through the numbers that tell its story.

City Ground history and redevelopment numbers

The City Ground is Forest's seventh permanent home, with the club moving there 33 years after its formation. It comprises four stands: the Trent End, Brian Clough Stand, Peter Taylor Stand and Bridgford Stand.

The stadium has undergone several major redevelopment projects, including the Brian Clough Stand in 1980, the rebuilding of the Bridgford Stand in 1992-93 and the Trent End between 1994 and 1996.

In September 2026, plans to expand the ground to 45,000 received conditional planning permission.

The proposals include extending the Peter Taylor Stand and filling in the corners of the Trent End. Separate outline permission for further redevelopment could eventually take capacity beyond 52,000.

The pitch measures 105m by 71m, making it approximately three metres wider than the standard 68-metre width used at many Premier League stadiums.

City Ground ticket prices by the numbers

For a published Category A Premier League fixture, adult match tickets have ranged from £50 to £70, with cheaper concessions available for seniors, young adults and children.

Nottingham Forest froze their 2026/27 season-card prices, with adult season tickets ranging from £575 to £915.

With a record attendance approaching 50,000 and plans to increase its capacity to 45,000 initially, the City Ground is preparing for a significant new chapter while retaining its historic riverside location.
