Fans show off custom Wigan bus for Fleetwood trip

Travelling to away matches can often be a bit of a slog. Trains that don’t run, coaches with a broken seat, or being cooped up in the car for hours.

That was not the case for some Wigan fans on the way to Fleetwood this morning, as they showed off the ridiculous custom bus they were taking to the game.

What was in the custom Wigan bus?

X user @JoeBird1932 posted a video showing off the bus on Saturday morning, and it’s safe to say the vehicle was not your average away day bus.

To start, the bus had limousine-style bench seating along the left and right, above which were installed two purple LED lights stretching the length of the vehicle.

At the back, the bus had a Wigan Athletic club crest sat in glass, illuminated in blue. Above that was a TV also showing the club crest, which could potentially be used to show other games on the way to and from the game.

Adding a touch of class, the bus also had Mercedes-Benz logos on the floor and at the back of the bus, as well as what appeared to be USB charging ports for the group’s phones.

The fans were already making good use of the transportation, with the video showing one supporter taking a swig from a Heineken bottle, and another box of Cruzcampo sat on one of the benches.

How did fans react?

As you might expect, fans online were quick to leave their opinions. Most supporters were in favour of the bus, with @kswannick4 commenting “Belter that.”

Similarly, RegReid7 wrote “Have fun lads, I don’t speak northern but it sounded like he was excited.”

Others were less impressed, with @I_am_the_Paulus asking “Hen night in Blackpool afterwards?”

@QPR_celona made the most important point, though, simply responding “No toilet” along with a skull emoji.

While that may be true, it cannot be argued that these Wigan fans were not travelling to the game in style.
