Ethan Nwaneri burst onto the Arsenal scene during the 2024/25 season, taking full advantage of the injury crisis the club endured in forward positions.

After signing a new long-term deal at the Emirates Stadium in the summer of 2025, Nwaneri has committed his future, which is music to the ears of Arsenal fans.

It's particularly good news for those who came up with the Ethan Nwaneri chant, which did the rounds home and away last season.

For all the key information on the Nwaneri chant, including the lyrics and tune, keep reading.

Ethan Nwaneri chant lyrics and tune

The Ethan Nwaneri chant is sung to the tune of the ‘He goes by the name of Wayne Rooney' football chant. The lyrics for the Arsenal version are as follows:

He replaced Bukayo on the right,

He scored in Spain on a Wednesday night,

He got an A in his GCSE

He goes by the name of Nwaneri

Nwaneri, Nwaneri,

He goes by the name of Nwaneri

Ethan Nwaneri chant background

The Ethan Nwaneri chant is effectively a homage to the beginning of his career at Arsenal. The song references arguably his best goal in an Arsenal shirt so far – the screamer he netted against Girona back in January 2025.

It then goes on to reference the fact that he stepped up for the club when Bukayo Saka was ruled out injured for a prolonged period during the 2024/25 season, before mentioning his reported good GCSE results.

The song may not stick around, or at least stay the same, for a while as these moments may drift from significance as time goes on.

FGG says: A good song for a new teenage star

This song was used by Man Utd fans when Wayne Rooney was lighting the Premier League up as a teenager, so it feels appropriate that the tune is now being used for another teenage talent. As far as Arsenal chants go, though, there are better.
