Everton supporters are reportedly considering a protest against the Friedkin Group when AS Roma visit Old Trafford to face Manchester United in the Champions League next week.
The American owners’ decision to put Everton up for sale has intensified frustration among fans who believe the Merseyside club has been treated less favourably than their Italian counterparts.
Why Everton fans could protest during Man Utd vs AS Roma
According to emerging reports, some Everton supporters are exploring the possibility of buying tickets for United’s home match against Roma on November 3rd to make their feelings known about the Friedkin Group.
The US-based ownership group controls both clubs but put Everton up for sale in early October, less than two years after completing its takeover in December 2024.
Majority owner Dan Friedkin has faced criticism from Toffees supporters over his limited public engagement with the club. He has reportedly not attended an Everton match at Hill Dickinson Stadium, visited Liverpool or spoken directly to manager David Moyes since the takeover.
The reported asking price for Everton is between £800m and £1bn, although it remains unclear whether a potential buyer is close to making an offer. The group could also pursue new investment rather than sell its controlling interest outright.

Supporter frustration has been fuelled by comparisons with Roma, who have enjoyed regular European football under the same ownership, including winning the Europa Conference League and reaching a Europa League final.
Everton, meanwhile, have finished 13th in both seasons under the Friedkin Group.
The clubs also spent different amounts on summer recruitment, with around £88m invested in Everton and approximately £104m at Roma.
There are further concerns about Everton’s January transfer plans, with reports suggesting the owners are reluctant to fund permanent additions and would consider loans or free transfers.
Moyes has already admitted he was surprised by the decision to put the club up for sale.
FGG says: Everton supporters want clarity from the Friedkin Group
The possibility of a protest at Old Trafford reflects a growing frustration with Everton’s direction and the lack of visible engagement from their ownership.
Supporters want clarity over the sale process, the club’s ambitions and whether Moyes will receive the backing needed to strengthen his squad. Comparing Everton with Roma has only intensified those concerns.
Any protest would provide another public show of discontent, but the bigger issue remains what happens next at Everton.
