Aston Villa's ongoing redevelopment of Villa Park has reached another significant milestone as work continues throughout the summer break.

Fresh aerial footage has now given supporters one of the clearest looks yet inside the construction site, with dramatic changes visible to the North Stand.

Villa Park latest progress as North Stand roof is removed

New drone footage from July 15th has revealed significant progress on Aston Villa's Villa Park redevelopment, with the North Stand roof now largely removed as work accelerates ahead of the new season.

One of the most striking developments is the removal of a substantial section of the roof structure, with large beams and cross-members dismantled to expose the stand below and allow the next phase of construction to begin.

Inside the stand, hundreds of seats have also been removed as part of a major internal reconfiguration, creating space for new stairways and revised spectator access routes within the expanded stand.

Elsewhere around the site, construction activity remains at full pace. Concrete continues to be poured across key sections of the project, multiple cranes are in operation lifting heavy materials into position, and drilling work is ongoing as crews continue preparing the foundations for the stadium's new structure.

Attention has also turned back to the playing surface – after previously being protected by large covering boards during construction, the pitch has now been fully uncovered and appears to be prepared for the next stage of relaying ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

The removal of the North Stand roof has also created a rare opportunity for supporters to see deep inside the redevelopment, offering a unique perspective on the scale of the structural work taking place before the new roof is eventually installed.

FGG says: The biggest visual transformation yet at Villa Park

While much of Villa Park's redevelopment has so far focused on groundwork and structural preparation, the removal of the North Stand roof marks one of the clearest signs yet that the project is entering a new and important phase.

It's the kind of visible progress supporters have been waiting to see and gives a real sense of just how much work is taking place behind the scenes.

There is still plenty of work ahead, but each update is making it easier for Villa fans to picture what one of English football's most iconic grounds will eventually become.
