How to watch Manchester United Women

Thanks to the huge success of the incredible Lionesses, women's football in England is well and truly on the rise. Girls now want to play football more often and even more people travel up and down the country every weekend to cheer on their women's team.

Manchester United Women are among many WSL sides to have seen a massive spike in their attendance since the Lionesses won the Women's Euros in 2021.

The Red Devils have seen their average attendance go from around 2,000 in the 2019-2020 season to around 10,000 in the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 seasons. Fans are understandably keen to go out and cheer on the side.

How to watch Manchester United Women in person

Manchester United Women play their home matches at the Leigh Sports Village complex which is roughly 40-minutes away from Old Trafford.

The Women's team has seen a massive increase in ticket enquiries and due to that, they have increased their ticket prices to £12, which in our opinion is still a brilliant price to watch top-level football.

Tickets can be purchased in person at the ticket office at Old Trafford or you can purchase tickets by phoning the ticket office on 0161 676 7770 or via their website. Tickets, for most matches, are priced at £6 for those who are under 16 and over 65 and are priced at £12 for everyone else.

Manchester United women walked out onto the famous Old Trafford turf for the first time in March 2022 when the Red Devils faced off against Everton in the WSL.

England's Alessia Russo scored a hat-trick for United as they came away with a comfortable 3-1 victory. The Women have, as of 15th April 2024, played three matches at Old Trafford, with their fourth match scheduled for 18th May against Chelsea Women, who have won the last four WSL titles in a row.

What is Manchester United Women's record attendance?

Thanks to the success of women's football in recent years, attendance has skyrocketed with pretty much every women's team in England seeing their attendance hugely increase.

In the Women's Champions League final between Barcelona Femeni and VfL Wolfsburg, the attendance record was smashed for a European fixture when 91,648 people walked through the doors at Camp Nou.

Attendance records at women's football matches in England, Mexico, Spain, Brazil, Peru, Germany and Chile have all been beaten in the last five years.

In the WSL, Manchester United have been involved in four of the top ten matches with the highest attendance, with just one of those four coming at home for the Red Devils.

In November 2023, 43,615 people turned up at Old Trafford to witness the Manchester Derby. Unfortunately for the red side of Manchester, Manchester City walked away with all three points after a 3-1 win.

Sky Sports recently announced that they will be showcasing forty-four Women's Super League matches from the 2024-2025 season, which will be the most of any other paying broadcaster.

There are a total of 264 Women's Super League matches to be played across the season, which means around 17% of those will be shown live on Sky Sports.

The BBC have also agreed a deal with the WSL to broadcast twenty-two matches from next season.

Alternatively, if you go to The FA's TV player website, you will be able to see your team play every single week of the season. This option is a long-running deal from the FA in a bid to get more eyes on Women's football.
