Inter Miami's Nu Stadium officially opened in April 2026 following several years of planning and construction, and the venue has already been announced to host its first international fixture next month.

The Nu Stadium staged its first competitive match on April 4, 2026, with Lionel Messi – who has a stand named after him at the ground – fittingly scoring the first goal in the ground's history as Inter Miami went on to draw 2-2 with Austin FC.

Now, the 26,700-capacity venue has been confirmed to host its first international game, with Haiti and Peru scheduled to clash at the Nu Stadium on June 5, 2026.

Haiti and Peru will meet at the Nu Stadium on June 5, 2026, with kick-off scheduled for 7:30pm local time (12:30am UK time on June 6), with the match serving as a warm-up ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

While Peru missed out on qualification for the summer tournament, Haiti ended a 52-year wait for a place at the World Cup, having last appeared in competition in 1974.

Haiti finished top of CONCACAF Group C to book their place at the World Cup, finishing ahead of Honduras, Costa Rica and Nicaragua to ensure their automatic qualification to the prestigious tournament.

Haiti were subsequently drawn alongside Scotland, Brazil and Morocco in Group C, and they have scheduled two friendly matches to warm-up ahead of the competition.

Haiti will first take on New Zealand at Inter Miami's former home, Inter Miami CF Stadium, on June 2, before travelling the short distance to face Peru at the Nu Stadium on June 5.

FGG Says: Another landmark for Inter Miami's new home

Inter Miami have quickly established themselves as one of Major League Soccer's most formidable teams, and they have consistently reached new milestones since their foundation in 2018.

Alongside winning several trophies in recent years, their relocation to the Nu Stadium marked another significant moment in the club's history, and hosting its first international fixture represents another landmark occasion.
