When Arsenal paid Chelsea £60 million for Kai Havertz in the summer of 2023, many people in football felt that the Gunners had been ripped off. After all, Havertz had only managed to score 19 Premier League goals in three full seasons at Stamford Bridge.

However, there was something about the German that Mikel Arteta clearly liked and his performance in North London have been significantly better than they were in the west of the capital.

Havertz's best season for the Gunners so far was his debut campaign, and during that season, he was rewarded for his form with his own Arsenal chant from the club's supporters at the Emirates Stadium.

Below, find out all of the key information on the Kai Havertz chant, including the lyrics and tune.

Kai Havertz chant, lyrics and tune

The Kai Havertz chant is sung to the tune of ‘Waka Waka' by Shakira. The lyrics are as follows:

Tsamina mina, eh, eh,

Waka waka, eh, eh,

Sixty million down the drain,

Kai Havertz scores again

Kai Havertz chant background

The Kai Havertz chant went viral during the 2023/24 season, receiving widespread praise from supporters of fellow clubs for the originality and brilliance of the chant.

The chant pokes fun at the tabloid journalists and pundits who claimed that Arsenal had wasted £60 million by bringing Havertz to the club, and is frequently sung shortly after Havertz finds the back of the net as a reminder to those people that they may have spoken too soon.

The player himself is a big fan of the chant, too. In an interview in 2024, Havertz said:

“I generally think the song is really cool. It's just nice when you score a goal that the fans celebrate it so much, that the fans are so behind you. I think that's extremely important for a footballer because you can't be at your highest performance level every day.

“It's normal that things always fluctuate a little bit. And that's why it feels extremely nice for me. I like the song, I like the melody.”

FGG says: A bit of brilliance from Arsenal fans

There is no doubt that this is one of the best football chants created in recent years, so Arsenal fans deserve huge credit for that. In fact, there have been several new Arsenal chants released in recent years that are worthy of praise, and it perhaps shows that good performances on the pitch can spark more imagination in the stands.
