Man United CEO delivers new Old Trafford update as £2bn project continues

Manchester United CEO Omar Berrada has issued a fresh update regarding the club's ongoing Old Trafford stadium project.

Man Utd revealed plans in 2025 to construct a new stadium in the area next to Old Trafford, and Berrada revealed more information about the Red Devils' future in the programme ahead of their 5-2 victory against Ipswich Town.

Work continues on stadium project

Writing in the pre-match programme, Berrada stated that “Work continues on our ambition to build a new stadium as part of a much broader redevelopment of our surrounding area here at Old Trafford.”

“Over the summer we shared the proposed new location of the stadium and we will be working closely with our fans over the coming months to keep you involved in that process.”

Manchester United had initially been looking to purchase land behind the Stretford End occupied by the Freightliner terminal, but after failing to come to an agreement, the club pivoted to a different plot of land.

The Red Devils have since confirmed the purchase of an extra 25 acres close to the ground that the new 100,000-capacity stadium will be built on, located just 350m away from Manchester United's current and historic home ground, Old Trafford.

The club are also looking at redeveloping part of the surrounding area, with Man Utd hoping to create 48,000 jobs and 15,000 new homes as part of the project.

While work continues on Man Utd's ambitious project, there is still a long way to before the Red Devils say an emotional goodbye to Old Trafford and finalise the move to their new home.
